Baking Soda and Lemon Juice

A friend I know uses baking soda and lemon juice combined as a kind of exfoliator/cleanser. Does this sound like a good idea???

Re: Baking Soda and Lemon Juice

It may be too harsh on sensitive skin, but other
than that it seems ok. Both are used for exfoli-
ation so it will work well on dead skin cells.

Straight lemon juice, not diluted with any other
liquid based substance, is usually left on for a
short time (10-15 minutes) for it to work, and
then rinsed off. I am not sure of it's effect on
the skin if used for only 30-45 seconds.

I have never used the Lemon juice in a cleanser
before so I can't comment on that. However, I have
mixed small amounts of baking sode into my cleanser
and loved the mild scrub action.

I hope this helps <IMG SRC="">

Thanks for the reply. I was worried that the two might be canceling each other out, but I guess they aren't. THANKS!

Re: Baking Soda and Lemon Juice

Hey blue! Ok, with the baking soda, I heard it is good for skin, but I have never tried (it's on my to-do list!) But I realized the other day that it says it's great to put in the bath for smooth skin on the box, and I put it in my pool to level the PH, and I realize my skin has been nice from swimming now, so I wonder...but I could be insane....and the lemon is a great idea! My doctor told me I should cut up a lemon, squeeze it in a small bowl and take a cotton ball and rinse it in some water if you have sensitive skin, and swipe it all over your face, it will tingle and kinda sting, but it's okay, I have did it for about 2 months now and my skin looks way better. See lemons (and most acidic fruits) contain alpha hydroxy acids (which you have prob heard about in commercials for skin cleansers) which are awesome b/c the biggest prob of why ppl have acne is b/c the skin doesn't 'shed' right, so the AHA make the skin regularly shed. It's amazing, lol.
So take a fresh lemon, squeeze, then put on your face, once dry and stops tingling, rise with warm water and repeat. Also, once all done with that I would reccomend taking some honey and putting it on your face, it makes it feel more moisterized and honey naturally kills bacteria (another reason we have acne) and let it dry and wash off.
But I would say try the baking soda and lemon, tell me if it works!! GL
