Re: what is the best antibiotic for acne

Hi, I don't think there is a best antibiotic out there for anyone.. basically dfferent people benefit from different anitbiotics.. unfortunately, there's no way to tell wnich anitbiotic will work for u...u gotta go bu trial and error. The antibiotic that i use to take was bactrium. It worked well for me the first time i took it... kept acne away for at least 6 mths.. however my acne came back a few time in the past 4 yrs and the anitbiotic seems to be less effective. I read a few research articles and they say if u use anitbiotics more than once, u will develop strains that will be immune to the bacteria. Thus, it think this is wat is happening to me now. So, u gotta be careful when taking anitbiotics. Maybe u can try to take antibiotics to be clear then later maintain it using natural methods suggested by the different people here?

Hey, I went on erythromicin and it also did stuff all for me. Now I'm on Minocyclin so hopefully that will have some effect.
Different antibiotics work for different people.

Re: what is the best antibiotic for acne

I've been on a bunch of antibiotics; now I'm on Minocycline. I think that this is the preferred antibiotic to prescribe for acne, but it doesn't work for everyone. The bacteria can very easily become resistant to the antibiotic that you are on, so if it works for you this time, it might not the next. A lot of the time if your acne does return, it comes back a lot worse. There are a few bad things about Minocycline:
1) You have to take it on an empty stomach so it is correctly absorbed in your bloodstream. (This can be a problem because it gives some people terrible stomach aches.)
2) Like all other antibiotics, it kills the good bacteria that live in your body to keep your internal biological balance. Minocycline, however, is known for causing yeast infections in women more than other antibiotics.
Anyways, you can list negative side effects for any drug you find. Give Minocycline a try, maybe paired with a topical Retinoid, like Differin or Tazorac (if you can stand it)
Hope it works well for you!! <IMG SRC="">
