Re: what is the best antibiotic for acne
I've been on a bunch of antibiotics; now I'm on Minocycline. I think that this is the preferred antibiotic to prescribe for acne, but it doesn't work for everyone. The bacteria can very easily become resistant to the antibiotic that you are on, so if it works for you this time, it might not the next. A lot of the time if your acne does return, it comes back a lot worse. There are a few bad things about Minocycline:
1) You have to take it on an empty stomach so it is correctly absorbed in your bloodstream. (This can be a problem because it gives some people terrible stomach aches.)
2) Like all other antibiotics, it kills the good bacteria that live in your body to keep your internal biological balance. Minocycline, however, is known for causing yeast infections in women more than other antibiotics.
Anyways, you can list negative side effects for any drug you find. Give Minocycline a try, maybe paired with a topical Retinoid, like Differin or Tazorac (if you can stand it)
Hope it works well for you!! <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif">
