A good antibacterial soap?

Does anyone know of a good anti-bacterial soap to use when you shower? I went into CVS yesterday and saw a lot to choose from (Neutrogena bar, Clearisil bar, etc). Which one should I get or which one works the best? Also, I've been washing my face with COLD water. Am I doing the right thing with rinsing with cold water?

Re: A good antibacterial soap?

I used to spend so much money buying individual bars of soap as I'm sure most people on this board do. I was a sucker for Purpose Gentle Clensing Bar. Anyway, don't waste your time. I am tired of throwing money around so I'm now using Irish Spring and with no regrets. I only have very light acne anyway, though, so make of it what you will.

If you insist on spending money, I recommend the Purpose bar for the sake that it was with me all the while I brought my acne down to this level, so it must do something right.

Re: A good antibacterial soap?

The only ingredients that are truly "anti bacterial" that can be found in "drug store" washes are Benzoyl peroxide and Triclosan. No matter what you do, your skin will always have bacteria on it. If you absolutley feel like you need an anti bacterial soap, look for brands that contain these ingredients.

Re: A good antibacterial soap?

yes, you're doing the right thing when you rinse with cold water. cold water will reduce inflamation and redness. hot water will irritate any acne and spread the bacteria. good job!
