I've been on Proactiv for two days now. In the past I've had good experiences with benzoil peroxide but I've read on this board that some people's skin actually broke out WORSE after a few weeks on Proactiv. I guess I just want to know how often this happens. I want my skin to get better not worse. Is there anything you can do to prevent this from happening? I'd appreciate everyone telling of their experiences with Proactiv and also the side effects they might have experienced(esspecially worse break-outs).
I've been using proactiv for over a year now and it's the only thing that works for me. I had severe cystic acne and very oily skin before using it. If BP has worked well for you in the past, then proactiv will probably be really effective. I never experienced an initial breakout when I first started, and I noticed significant improvement within about 2 weeks. I still have very mild acne caused by hormones and the products I use in my hair, but I no longer get cysts, and my face is no longer oily within 20 minutes of washing. Hope it works for you <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif">
I use proactiv as well.Ive been using it for about 3 weeks and I really like it.I experienced a little bit of a breakout when I first started it but nothing serious.I know alot of ppl say it doesnt work for them but there are also alot of ppl who have had it work for them and they continue to use it.You just gotta make sure that you use it RIGHT,this is very important and dont use too much at a time because it is 2% BP and if you overuse it,it will dry out your skin.
I did not see any results from using Proactiv. I tried it for awhile, and it made my skin very red and irritated, and in the end..a little worse than when I started. However, I have extremely sensitive skin. I think I am allergic to BP, so now stay away from it. This was just my experience. Most people say that it works for them, though.
I don't like Proactiv, that **** sucks, I used it for a couple of days and it made my skin so red and never did nothing for my skin. Their cleanser is basically an exfoliator,I don't think you should be exfoliating your skin everyday especially when you got acne, that will result in irritated skin and then a breakout.
ProActiv started out working OK for me but after a couple of months it "turned on me". IOW: I became sensitive to it and my skin condition got worse than when I had started. Many people have reported intolerance to Benzoyl Peroxide.
It worked for....i dunno, 8 months and during that time it never cleared my skin but made my acne a little better. after that, i was having a bunch of stuff going on in my life and i hardly even noticed that my face was getting worse and worse. i thought that it was just a phase and that the proactiv would help me out of it. i was wrong, my skin turned out to be a lot worse than in the beginning when i stopped using it. i would never go back on it again, it has pretty much ruined my skin.
