Re: Difference between Retin A and Retin A Micro ???

Retin-A comes in three preparations, regular cream, clear gel and micro. Micro is goes on like a gel but it looks like the cream. It also drys more like a gel which is good for people who have oily skin. Micro is also supposed to better for sensitive skin types that may become red from using retin-A regular cream or gel.

When I got pretty flaky from Retin-A, my doc put me on Retin-A Micro. It is supposed to be better tolerated and not cause so much dry skin and flaking. Either one will cause flaking on damp skin -- make sure you've dried your face for 10 min. before applying and only use a pea-sized amount. The Micro works better for me.

I thought both worked about the same in keeping the acne at bay. But the micro felt nicer on the skin since it was less greasy than the cream.

Is Retin A better for pores than red marks?

Re: Difference between Retin A and Retin A Micro ???

Retin-A does promote collagen and elastin in the skin when used for several months. It basically creates new skin and speeds up cell renewal, hence bringing everything to the surface. I am not sure exactly how it shrinks pores though. I have not really noticed shrinkage...the size of your pores is hereditary, there may be things to help shrink them but for the most part this is something you are born with.
