Foundation for Acne Prone Skin

What foundation controls oil but does not cause breakouts? I have tried Neutrogena but it does not control my oil. What would work. Plz help.

Why don't you try a thin thin layer of Milk Of Magnesia under your foundation as a mattifier?

Hi. Which Neutrogena did you try? I've used the Neutrogena Healthy Skin and I liked it. I'm 38, but my skin is oily and I get alot of breakouts. So far I think the Neutrogena Healthy Skin is my favorite.

Re: Foundation for Acne Prone Skin

Vero,

I actually had this same question a month or so ago, and did some research. I have very oily skin, a lot of red marks, but my acne is finally starting to clear up. I looked at older posts, and also looked at websites with makeup ratings and reviews. I found that a lot of people liked Estee Lauder's Double Matte. I went and bought the Double Matte foundation and pressed powder about three weeks ago. It was definitely expensive, but I did get the free gifts.

Double Matte is probably the best foundation I've used. And I have tried ALOT, from cheap to expensive. Right now I have at least 8 different kinds sitting at home. Double Matte just covers so well, yet isn't cakey. It controls my oil pretty well, but I still have to blot my face and put on powder throughout the day...but much less than other makeup. But it doesn't fade or streak by the end of the day like most makeup. My makeup looks just as good when I get home as it did in the morning.

It hasn't made me break out yet, but most makeup doesn't make me break out anyways.

I've heard of people going to the Estee Lauder counter and getting a small sample. You could always try it and see if you like it, since it is expensive. But I'm pretty sure if you buy it and don't like it you can return it.

Just remember everyone is different, so Double Matte might not work for you or might make you break out, but I absolutely love it.

Hope this helps!

almay clear complexion compact is very good also..very light weight but a lot of coverage..good for old acne marks..will not break u out..I recommend just dotting with ur finger instead of using a sponge and swiping it on..that can spread the bacteria

i also like anti shine from smashbox. it absorbs the oil before you put on foundation.

Re: Foundation for Acne Prone Skin

I second Daisy's post for Estee Lauder's Double Matte. I remember my mother had this a few years ago and I had the opportunity to use it. It covered so well and so naturally, yet didn't break me out. I too have oily skin.

Now I use Clinique Barely-There Concealer because I am a college student who can't afford something like Estee Lauder. Unfortunately, my mom has switched to Shiseido!

I just started using Bobbi Brown oil-free even finish compact fondation and it works sooooo good. It doesn't make you break out and it covers blemishes and red marks. It makes your skin look really good!!!! It is a little expensive ($38), but trust me, it it definitely worth it.

Yes. I agree with everything that stepher mentioned. JI doesn't absorb oil much, but I use blotting papers for that. JI is THE most natural-looking makeup I've ever tried!

Re: Foundation for Acne Prone Skin

I got JI makeup, but it's way too dark for me. I can see though how it would look good if it were the right color!
