My home is on the east coast, but i'm attending school out west. My skin is usually clear, a little oily at times. But ever since I started school out west, my skin has gotten very sensitive...easily turning red. On top of that, my acne has been flaring up. Not huge pimples, but small bumps and some whiteheads. I went to the dermo and he gave me some stuff to dry the acne up, but when I use it too much, my skin gets too dry and very flaky and patchy. Either way, I can't use too much lotion on my face because it'll get oily and my acne will flare, but when I dont use it, I still get acne. Any suggestions?? I'm open to trying whatever! Thanks!

Re: seeking a solution!
I would recommend either going back to your dermatologist and telling him/her that you aren't reacting well to the medication or try another dermatologist for a second opinion. You might also consider going to an aesthetician. They may have some good recommendations for some topical products that will work better for your skin type. It could be the change in weather is creating an adjustment period for your skin.
Have you been doing anything else differently? For example, diet, activities, etc? Make sure you are drinking enough water as well.
Keep us posted and if I think of anything else I will let you know!
Thank you! I appreciate the advice and am currently looking for a new dermatologist. My diet is fairly healthy. I eat fruits, vegetables, and drink water on a daily basis. I exercise alot as well. Is there any particular food item or drink that I could ingest that might help?

Re: seeking a solution!
Well, it sounds like you are doing well diet wise! I would just make sure that you aren't having any kind of dairy and really reduce your intake of sugar and foods high on glycemic index like white bread, cereals, packaged foods, pasta, etc. You might also look into B5 supplements as well as Omega 3 and 6 Fatty acids and zinc. Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!
Hey have you tried to use facial lotion? I mean water based lotion. since it is not water based it will humidify your skin without clogging up you pores. give a thought.
I buy and use faithfully Aloe Vera plant. I am 45 and got blessed (Right) with adult acne about 6 months ago. I think it works great. I still have some but the Aloe Vera plant heals it quickly.
