Unhappy lost

i have a problem... i have continually failed out of school...

lack of concentration
day dreaming- out of control
lack of motivation
increadiably messy- onorganized... even when i try
big procrastinator
get bored easily

blah blah blah

the pdoc at my college told me that i have add... there are more things that lead him to that... but i cant remember...

so now i flunked out of my college... because of that and severe depression

now i am going to a community college to get my academics back on track...

how do i prevent this from happening again, cause i have gone thru it all my life... ever since i was little and i am sick and tired of failing time and time again...

i dont have any insurance for meds or to see a reg pdoc... is there anything else other than meds that can help me... or am i completely hopeless... cause i really dont know when my insurance will go thru

Re: lost

Depression can cause ADD like symptoms on its own, and if you have true ADD depression can make it worse.

It is obvious how depressed you are just by the way you talk about yourself. Look into free counseling at your school. Most community colleges offer a few free sessions with the on campus psychologist.

Some things you can do to help yourself are:

Eat right, dont eat junk, eat healthy

Exercise, make sure to go for a walk/jog at least 30minutes everyday, itll help you clear your mind

There are nutritional supplements that you can buy from the grocery store pretty cheap that can help depression and ADD.

Some of the cheaper ones are Omega3 and L-Tyrosine.

BeCalmd is one thats sold on the net, its more expensive but works wonders for some. It has many uses including both ADD and depression. You can get the ingrediants on their own and make a supplement combo that has the same doses and ingrediants as beCalmd. Thats the cheaper way.

Another thing you can do is start a journal.

At your school you should be able to get accomodations like free tutoring, untimed tests and more. Look into this at your schools students with disabilities center.

Re: lost

Check with you school about student insurance. My friend pays 15-16$ a week for it and has 90% covered on meds and 10$ co-pay at doctors.
i dont have time to type much more, but just know i am RIGHT THERE with you.. im 23, diagnosed at age 22, went my whole schooling career with no help at all. Parents and everyone just thought i was lazy and even tho everyone knew i had much potential and creativity, they just assumed i was too lazy to get organized and to do any reading work needed. So now i am tring to get back in school after i have basicaly lost everything i learned back 5-8 yrs ago.
It seems like i may just go down to fla with my gf and work as an electrician with her mom, and then go thru schooling with them and work my way up. I have a horrible CC debit due to my impulsive actions, and i was horribly organized when i lived with my past girlfriend, so i have many many many back bills to still pay..
it will be a LONG time before i reach ground level again, but hopefully ill still have my health to enjoy it.
good luck

Re: lost

the untimed tests would be a definate plus... the last test i took, i couldnt concentrate at all... my mind went out the window...

i go on walks, its how i vent... they usually last about two hours... lets my mind go free and helps me relax...

i used to see a counselor at my school because of that... and some depression... ok, alot of depression... went to the hospital at the time too... i plan to go back this week cause the stress of home is making me go crazy!!!

feeling more and more depressed...

i met with the academic counselor at my excollege today and helped me explore options for me in the future... which i find very hard to picture at the time

i think i am going to try the omega3, i heard it also helps with asthma... another plus...

i keep a journal... i am a writer... keep it for emergencies and sudden creativity spurts... helps me vent to!

soon as i register for the comminity college, i am going to talk to them about ways, such as longer time for tests and whatnot so that i dont flunk out like last time... i dont think i would be able to handle it mentally if it were to reoccur... i cant have more reminders of how much of a failure i am...

i know how you feel in a way 6re99, my family thought i was lazy too, they still think that... i dont think i can make it living eight months at home where they tell me that i am lazy, that i should study more and that i am a failure...
sigh
oh well
