Hey guys just a little worried about whats happening with me these days. I have anxiety problems and am now taking meds for that for the past 5 months or so. I dont know if this ties in with the anxiety at all but for some reason I have problems paying attention to people that are talking with me. Somtimes I dont even know what was just talked about. I seem to be thinking about other thoughts in my head and try to pay more attention but for the most part I have truble staying on track. Does this sound like Add to you guys?? Any info or thoughts would help. Thanks.
Attentional problems are very common in people suffering with anxiety.
Some people with ADHD also have anxiety (often from sensory overlaod etc.), but without a clear history of ADHD since before age 7, it is far more likelyt that your concentration problems are caused by the anxiety, and have nothing whatsoever to do with ADHD.

What kind of meds are you on? I've been on Paxil for about a year for panic disorder, and it seems like ever since i started taking it i cant pay attention to anybody talking to me.
Anxiety can cause attention issues but, more importantly, anxiety medications can cause ADD-like symptoms. As previously mentioned, for your symptoms to truly be ADD, they must have existed before age 7. In other words, they cannot be of recent onset.
Hmmm thank you for the feed back guys...ya I am on 40mg of prozac a day. Its been a while now and somtimes i still feel the anxiety. Yet is is much better none the less. If the meds are the case then i dont know what to do.

It was me that wrote that your anxiety meds could cause your inattention problems. Knowing now that you are taking Prozac, I'd be less inclined to blame it on the Prozac. If you were taking a benzodiazipene (like Xanax or Klonopin), they'd be more likely to effect your ability to concentrate.
So, back to square one! The best thing to do would be to talk to your doctor. You might do some reading about ADD to see if you think ii applies, but again, bear in mind that for it to truly be ADD it needs to have existed since childhood.
