| Re: Psychological testing
So has he had the testing yet? I'm a bit surprised that they want him On his Ritalin. Almost sounds like they want to determine if he has something other than ADHD.
Depending on where this is being done, there could be various specialists involved. Also depends on how he was originally diagnosed with ADHD, and who diagnosed him.
Some places have an environment where the child is allowed to interact with other kids, some in isolation and a one-on-one with a specialist.
Its best to call the facility conducting the testing to determine what exactly is your grandchild being tested for, who are the specialists, what kind of environment is he in, why is he on Ritalin during these tests...etc.
This may not help, however, if you browse down through the ADD site, or do a search on 'testing', or 'diagnosis', etc. you may find good insight from others.
Dont blame you for your apprehension, as parents, grandparents, aunts, etc, it is not common to be in touch with a physchologist, their testing methods, or the vast amount of neurological challenges facing the kids of today.
