Do i have ADHD?? - ADD / ADHD Message Board

I have been told by a dr when I was a child that I had ADHD but I am not sure of all the facts about it. Can it carry over into adulthood, and if so is there a way for me to find out without going to a dr first?

Yeah it could def. carry on into adulthood but you could also grow out of it. Do you have trouble consentrating, being organized, hyper, getting frusterated easily, never completing tasks?

yea pretty much all the time, but i dont know if i am like this because im lazy or adhd. i just wanted to see if there was some other way first aside from seeing a dr if i have it or not.

Go to the library and check out a few books on ADD/ADHD and sift through them. Or, go buy "You Mean I'm Not Lazy, Stupid, or Crazy" by Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo and read it. If you were previously diagnosed ADHD as a child, there's a good chance it "followed" you into adulthood. Unless it is a money issue, however, I'd suggest going to the doctor's and getting an experienced outside opinion. What's it gonna hurt? You either find out you have adult ADD or you find out you probably don't. Call your insurance company and see what they cover.

One thing that helps is to print off a few on-line diagnosis "tests" for ADD. Of course you can take it, but have a few people who are close to youtake it for you. Use that as part of your self-analysis.
