Ritalin is not addictive. At worst snorting it can cause the user to crave the feeling of alertness and focus, but even then you can't get addicted to Ritalin. At some point the drug will no longer work and things will return to normal.

More importantly you are over-reacting, Ritalin doesn't make you high like cocaine does, ignore the labels kids put on it. The online game Everquest was called Evercrack that doesn't mean it was crack. Kiddie cocaine is just a word college kids made up to be clever. Ritalin acts as a CNS stimulant. Since there is no amphetamine it's a bit like taking some nodoz without the nervousness.

Relax, don't let people scare you.

Re: riddlin addication

I wouldn't worry about addiction nearly as much as the very real potential health consequences if she's snorting ritalin often and at high doses.

Interestingly, those who abuse Ritalin are most frequently those for whom the drug has not been prescribed.

The fact is that Ritalin (and the other stimulants) have a very low addiction potential when taken as prescribed. You can read the statistics under my post on the "Kids snorting ritalin" thread:
http://www.healthboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=205961&page=2&pp=5

***IMHO, an individual who is snorting a substance - any substance - needs treatment for substance abuse. I think we can probably all agree on that even if we don't agree on the addiction potential of stimulants.***
