wondering if this could be an add possibility

ok here it goes... my ex girlfriend of 5 years has some kind of disorder or chemical balance, i think?
{1} she can be very hiper or she can be very tired or sleey there is rarely an inbetween,,eyes are wide mind is racing many different things going on in her head at any single time,, almost to a point ,that sometimes she doesnt even get a chance to think about what she is saying it just comes out....or she can be tired and sleeping when she gets home from work at 6 ,,two or more night's out of the week..

{2}very irretable gets figity or bored often, can have a somewhat poor sense of reality,,

{3} very insecure and seems to have many double standards like if we bolth did the same things it would be ok for her to do it but not me,, maybe she is just really stubborn?

{4}has made very poor decisions in the past,, doesnt really think about her decisions,, just kind of makes them spontaniously,,, {example} she broke up with me the night before my birthday and was extremly hiper and wanted me to take her shopping so she could get clothes to go out in then wants to get back togethor with me a couple of days later?

{5}feels different when she gets a haircut,,, will go on occasionall shopping sprees when she has no money, but yet complains she is broke

{6}one week she will be all about going to the gym and getting in shape,, the next week she will be all about going out every night,, the next week she will be all about doing nothing ,,,, she just seems very unstable

{7} used to talk to herself ,, it really seems that in front of me she lets herself go the most, in front of other people she controls how she acts except for the fast talking sometimes,, they just dont know her like i do,,,
she is 24,, any info you could give me or any questions feel free to ask thanks

Re: wondering if this could be an add possibility

What you describe sounds alot like Bipolar Disorder (sometimes called Manic Depression). You might check out that board here on Healthboards. They might have some insights for you.

People who have ADHD are generally hyper all the time. It doesn't come and go like you describe. However, the periods of being "hyper" with racing thoughts, impulsive behavior, and loads of energy alternating with periods of lethargy sounds pretty classic Bipolar. The inappropriate shopping you descibe is, for some reason, quite common with this disorder.

I'd encourage you to look in that direction.

Good luck!

Re: wondering if this could be an add possibility

just wanted to thank you for your reply,, i was pretty stuck on the bipolar also,, but i know that sometimes symptoms can be similar,, the only thing that is diff is i dont think she get really depressed and if she does she hides it quite well,, although she does get figity and bored quite easly at times which might have something to do with a slight depressed state at those times,, thanks again

Could be bipolar, or borderline PD. Even mixed type ADHD isn't usually as clearly "either totally hyper or totally lazy".

Sounds very much like Bi-polar disorder.

Her depressed state doesn't have to be crying all the time. The extreme tiredness and irratability are also signs of depression.
