| Re: Son refusing to take meds- help
You cannot hide Concerta. It has to be swallowed whole - can't be sprinkled (like Adderall XR) or crushed (regular Adderall) onto applesauce.
How long has your son been on meds? If you see a difference in him as well as the teachers, tell your son that the reason he thinks he doesn't need them is because they are helping him so much that's why he feels better. Does he give you trouble swallowing them? Has he tried any other meds? I know we were supposed to start with Concerta - tried but he couldn't swallow so I don't know how my son would have done on them. We went to Adderall regular and worked up to 20mg. Now we just started (2nd day) on Adderall XR. Anyway, you don't want to hear my story - you want help! Does your son take the meds on the weekend as well? If he does, tell him you will stop giving them to him on the weekends only for now.
