I'm so glad to see that you want to help him. It is so comforting when the people you care about understand what you're going through. That's the best thing you can do for him is try to understand, and try not to judge.

Is he the hyperactive type or the inattentive type? I'm still learning about the disorder, but I know there are different ways that ADD can show up. It might help you understand him more if you knew his main symptoms. They're different for everybody.

Did he fill out a checklist? Do you think he'd let you see it, or maybe talk to you about it? Once you see all the ways that ADD can affect a person, it really helps you to appreciate his predicament.

There's all kind of info on the internet that describes ADD. I think I remember seeing a site that had a section on "what friends and family members can do" when they know someone with ADD. It's hard sifting through all the parenting tips to find good info on other types of relationships such as friends, siblings, and spouses, but they're out there. See if he's got a book he'd let you look at. Have you been to the library? I don't have any detailed suggestions like "always say his name before you start each sentence" or some such garbage! LOL, I've just started researching this myself. Good luck!
