From what my doctor and pharmacist have told me, the prescription can only be for one month and is not refillable. You must always have a written prescription. It cannot be called in by a doctor. If a doctor trusts the way a patient handles their medication, he may write an extra prescription dated for the next month. He may or may not write on it, "Do not fill until (date). It's my understanding these are federal guidelines. If so, it will be the same in the any state in the U.S. Hope this helps.
