I'm an Adderall XR, but I'm starting low and my doc will have me slowly go up until we find the right dose. I was on 5mg XR a day, now I'm on 20mg XR a day (which I think is the equivalent of two 10mg. regular Adderall doses, right?)
Just wondering where it tends to average out for people. I know everyone is different, but trying to get a sense.
I take regular release 10mg in the am and if I have an extremely busy day I take an additional 5-10mg at lunch time. I also take 100mg Wellbutrin in the morning. If I take too much of Adderall in one day I tend to get headaches and bitchy so I think less is more with Adderall. I also take a break from it on the weekends that way I don't build up a tolerance and need to take a higher dosage. Now this works for me and I'm not a medical doctor so this is only what I do and I am not recommending it to you or anyone else.
I would just ask. My reasoning was so I could control the amount and she agreed with me and put me on regular release. So she prescribed 20mg a day for me and I just split them in half and sometimes I even quarter them.
NOW....I just left a message to my doctor asking her to re-prescribes this months prescription because the pharmacy gave me a different generic than what I had been taking. It is like taking a sugar pill and I hate them. So, be careful on when you fill your regular release Adderall because not all generic ones are the same. If I were you I would ask for the brand name if you have good health insurance OR ask for the Abrika brand of the generic, do not get the Barr brand. Take care and let me know what happens.
I am taking 60mg of Adderall 2 times a day every 5 hours and a third dose of 30-45mg in the evening. I have no adverse effects but am experiencing some depression and anxiety. I have always had an anxiety problem but now feel depressed. I do have serious ADHD and am being treated by a highly recommended Child Neurologist who is an ADD/ADHD specialist who treats adults as well. I was taking Ritalin 4 times a day at 60mg a dose (every 3.5hrs) and I hated the peaky behavior of the drug and switched a little over a month ago. I saw the doctor today and he put me on 150mg a day of Wellbutrin XL to go with the Adderall. I question the high dose of Adderall but he says it should cause no long term side effects and that many other patients (adult) of his are on simular doses. Like I said the only side effect I have noticed is depression and not feeling very hungry. I don't think high doses like this are safe for every adult, but in cases of extreme hyperactivity they help drastically.
