| Re: Has anyone heard of BrainGym? anyone try to do with ADD kids?
I'm not familiar with BrainGym---( - removed - ) It looks like it's for everyone---from kids to old people.
I know in the late 50's and early 60's, doctors and researchers were working with children who had problems in development. (I'm assuming all types: emotional, intellectual, emotional, physical, etc).
They took kids who had developmental problems and found that many of the kids had problems with creeping, crawling, toddling, and walking.
They worked with the kids and had them start all over with learning how to creep correctly, crawl, toddle and walk. I don't know what the term is, but when we walk, if our right arm is forward, our left leg is back?
This and other "exercise" therapies helped the kids in all sorts of different ways.
One of the things the doctors/researchers noticed, was that many of these kids never learned how to "pump" themselves on a swing. They relied on someone else to make them swing.
Later on, it was probably in the early to mid '70's, another therapeutic exercise was "discovered". It was jumping on a trampoline.
I think we've created problems for ourselves by limiting physical development and exercise.
