| Re: If your child is Dx with ADD
Hi! My 11 yr old was diagnosed a few years ago, we have been trying to find something that works. we are very torn, not sure what is the right way to go. He is very ADHD,was very depressed on adderall, we were frightened. Tried no meds for awhile he did very poorly in school. Now trying a low dose of ritalin during school, he did better. He will be off for the summer.
Now my 8yr old was diagnosed. He is the inattentive type. So far ritalin & concerta did not agree with him. Now we are trying strattera, but very reluctant because of all the negative feedback. He is an intelligent boy but he did very poorly on the state tests becasue he can not pay attention long enough to get all the information.
Somedays we feel like our kids are medical guinea pigs. Don't really want them to be on meds but not sure what else to do to keep them productive at school. Feel like we're between a rock and a hard place.
So not sure if that answered your question, but I'm sure we all are trying to do the best for our kids.
