My advice to you as my boy friend has adhd is to be as positive as positive as posible and to be patient. Remind him he is not any different than any other kid and everyone has problems be it this or something else some you can see and some you can't. self esteam is a huge issue with add. I know with my boyfriend espeically in social siduatations or when he knows he's having a day he says feels different like he doesn't fit in and he figets more so just remind him he 's fine. also if something is bothering you let him know nicely before it frustartes you. My sweety will often sit when we eat out and play with toothpicks and sometimes in okay but there are places it not okay and he doesn't even know he doing it when i make him aware he stops. bring lots of things for him to do if your going somewhere not so fun. my boyfriend will draw doodle ect. just give him love and the doctors will figure out what types of med's and/or help will work him. if he is open to yoga meditation or even prayer it helps anything to teach focus this might help alittle. if he plays sports that great its a way to expend energy. The more he talks about his feelings and learns to communiticate is better often if it carries on to adult hood they have problems getting jobs because they can't commuicate their thoughts well.help him learn to express detail when he talks. my boyfriend and i write to eachother and i try not to get mad or upset when he forgets things instead i leave notes to remind him and he sets his cell phone alarm for things. also they say if he's frustrarted give him breaks but remind him of the task he's on and need to finish. if you helping with homework find a place with less detracting things. I sorry i can't provide something more concreate but good luck to you everyone is different when it comes to this kinof stuff.
