any feedback on dexamphetmine - ADD / ADHD Message Board

my little boy has just been started on dexamphetmine for ADHD does anyone have any feedback on it please .................

Hi, Mum...I've been diagnosed with ADHD for about 8 years now, and Dexedrine has been wonderful for me. I first tried Ritalin; it didn't work and I didn't like it, and I've also tried Adderall, which worked better and didn't feel as harsh to me, but Dexedrine is by far the best in terms of helping me focus, evening out my moods, and helping me sleep at night. It still does dampen my appetite somewhat, even after being on it for so long, so I need to make sure to eat even if I'm not hungry, but that's really the only side effect I deal with. It's also been prescribed for a long time, and is generally considered a safe drug (depending on individual circumstances, of course).

How old is your little boy? What is his dosage? Who diagnosed him? A family physician or a psychologist? I've been diagnosed with ADHD for 3 years now. I started off on starttera, but have since been on adderall for just over a year.

My Little Boy In Nearly 3 And Is On 2.5 Mg For Two Weeks Then Eventually Increasing Too 5mg Twice Daily Our Local Adhd Doctor Diagnosed Him I Dont Think This Is Gonna Work As He Keeps Freaking Out At Me

The dosage sounds good...still age 3 sounds young the be diagnosed. But thats my opinion. What caused you to seek testing? What type of behaviors was your son exhbiting? What has changed in his behavior that is freaking you out? Just be sure it's him that's freaking you out and not the idea your son is on adderall. Speaking from experience, my mother was and is still uneasy about me being on adderall. Still, the drug has been so benifical to me.
