What is up with ADD and interrupting people? - ADD / ADHD Message Board

I hate it...I come off as rude. I don't mean to but I can't help it.. I do it all the time.I don't like talking on the phone because that is when I interrupt the most in the middle of a conversation..or sentence.

When I married, I moved far from all my friends and family and so in order to keep in touch, I have to use the phone.

A lot of people to me, talk so slow..and it's like I can't take it or something so I butt in...I don't know why I do this!..but to people who don't know about ADD and the quarks associated with it, I just come off as rude.

It is not a good way to make friends..and I really want to stop doing it. I am a nice person. Really. Anyone else with ADD ever interrupt others often?

My DH has ADHD and yes he does interrupt constantly. You can be in mid conversation and its like he tunes out and jumps in with his own thoughts. I believe this to be a common trait for those with ADHD, at least I know it is for some children.

Yup here to I'm ADD , 12 yr. old Daughter ADD and 8 yr. old son ADHD (fun at my house lol) and I do it the worst but we all interupt, I have found in my case though if I don't say it NOW I'll forget so that's why I interupt usually.
I hate the phone! I can't focus on conversation because other things are going on and people hate that as much as interupting.
I would have to sit in an empty room to be able to have a real conversation on the phone I think.

i feel terribly rude when i do that...i totally dont mean to...it just sorta happens..the worst is when people get upset..i understand why they wouldnt want to be interupted..and they have every right to feel that way...but if they only knew...that we just cant always control it
