Methylphenidate v/s Methylin- WOW- Why? - ADD / ADHD Message Board

I usually get a monthly prescription for #120 Methylphenidate 10mg, which I take 2 pills, 2 times a day. I always get it filled at the same pharmacy which gives me the generic ritalin-methylphenidate. It has always worked great and did exactly what it was supposed to. At my last appointment, I asked if I could try getting #60-20mg methylphenidate since I take 20mg each anyway, hoping that getting less pills would save me some money.(im a student so no health insurance) This time, I went to a different pharmacy closer to my school and they gave me Methylin instead. Let me tell you..................my body DOES NOT like the Methylin! Im not sure if it's the "going up to 20mg" that is causing problems, or the different brand, but the methylin makes my ADD worse! It makes me jittery, irratable, makes my hands shake, and causes me to break out into a cold sweat. What's the deal??? The pharmacist insists they are all the same, but I beg to differ! Has this ever happended to anyone else?? Why is it not working like the other brand did? Any suggestions?

Is one name brand and the other generic?

I'm on the short acting version of Adderall. I noticed a difference between the name -vs- generic (same dossage). Mentioned it to the doc. He said other patients had reported the same along the way. Fellow co-worker also noted the difference. The name brand was like going up on the dosage... even though it was the same. Like it was more potent. Like you, pharmacist said there is no difference between the 2. I feel like there is... literally.
