I was prescribed 20 mg and will be taking my first pill tomorrow. I'm wishing my dr would have started me out at 10 mg. Is it normal to start with 20? I'm a bit nervous.

Kris,

20mg is recommended starting dose for adults.

I read too many posts on this board that suggest 20mg is too high for starters.

So, if you can't sleep, can't eat, run around like a "speeding" rabbit, tell Doc to lower to 10mg for first two weeks. It may not reduce your ADHD symptoms noticeably but at least it won't make life worse.

I tried the 20 mg and the first 2 days were great, other than a few minor side effects-headache, a little dizzy, FREQUENT urination. The 3rd day I noticed I got really dizzy when standing, so I took my blood pressure and it was low when standing (high heart rate 140) and a little high when sitting- with a lower heartrate (orthostatic hypotension). The sides of my neck were really tight, along with my jaw, and I had a severe headache pressure behind eyes and the base of my head and neck. It seems with the way my blood pressure was reading, I wasn't drinking enough fluids, but I was drinking plenty! I really think all of the effects were from peeing SO much and I was getting dehydrated, although I was drinking like a fish. Does this get better? I didn't take my pill yesterday or today. Should I try for a lower dose?

That doesn't sound good. Please alert doctor immediately and follow recommendations.
