| Misdiagnosis? HELP, I am going nuts!!
So my son was just recently diagnosed A.D.H.D. after struggling with him for 3 years. He is about to be 6, and in his previous class, an E.C. class for special needs children, he was suspended 3 times due to his behavior. Now we have switched his doctor and he was prescribed Vyvanse. Now before vyvanse, my son was very abusive, angry, outraged, and antigonostic to his sister. My son would beat any animal, hit any person without any care, destroy property, vehicles, or anything that he could his hands on, without any cause or prevocation. He has been on vyvanse for approximately two weeks now and I'm at a loss. While the hitting has subsided, my son NEVER sleeps anymore and when he does, it is for maybe 2-4 hours at night and he's right back up first thing in the morning. I cannot sleep until I know he does because he likes to go outside, climb things to reach items he's not supposed to, and all sorts of things. It's like he's on an all time high that never ends now. It's really strange and I don't know what to do or what to ask his doctor or anything. I have had complete strangers ask me if he's bi-polar, but I don't think that is it. My son doesn't appear to have downs at all now. Is this the medication alone? Do I need to stop giving it to him and tell his doctor? I feel as if I am manic now with the loss of sleep, I can't imagine how he's feeling. I just don't know what to do.
