Adderall Question? - ADD / ADHD Message Board

I just took my first 10mg pill this morning about an hour and a half ago. What do people on the web mean when they say you should feel it "kick in"? All I feel is the need to have a cup of coffee. My doc said stay of caffine for a while. Does a persons size have anything to do with the dosage? I'm a large guy at 235 lbs. I won't get too impatient here, I guess maybe I was expecting too much. Any thoughts?

Well it's been 10 hours since my pill and haven't felt anything except a mild headache. My doc told me to take 10 mgs in the morning for 5 days and then take one in the AM and again at 2pm. Maybe I was just expecting too much today. I sure would like to concentrate on one thing instead of 6.

thats weird cause im 135lbs and my doc told me to take 20mg twice a day. i only took one cause that did me justice but maybe you should talk to your doctor.

I weigh 125lbs and take 10mg in the am and another 10mg around noon time. People can react differently to meds so maybe your dr. is being cautious and that is why he has you starting at 10mg.

Do you take any other meds or have any other medical issues? Adderall is an amphetamine so maybe they are wanting to make sure it doesn't increase your heart rate or something like that?

Not to mention........Adderall may not be the "answer" for you and you might have to try a few other meds before you find the "right" one. Give it a few days and if you don't see any improvement -- call your doctor.

I've been taking adderall for a few months now and it took me a while to get benefits. I've had 3 dose increases so far.
My doctor told me a person's height/weight doesn't really matter, something about how it's metabolized by the brain, not the digestive system or whatever, although some foods that affect the ph level of your stomach can cause it to be used differnetly. There's lots of info on the net about this.

I've heard of a 250 male benefitting from 20 mg a day. I'm a 100 pound female and so far I'm up to 45 mg a day (started off with 5mg and increased every two weeks) and only seeing a bit of increased focus that only lasts for about 3 hrs. Doc has me taking it three x a day instead of just 2 now. (This is IR, not XR) No increased energy, which I was hoping for.
