my husband needs help.

i dont mean it in a bad way but he has been something else since i met him. all he cares about is video games i would visit him when we were dating and he would just sit on the computer or play video games and i spent time with his mother. i dont know why i married him i was trying to get away form my family and i just settled for any relationship, i guess. he stares at the t.v. and zones out and you cant say anything to him if you do he acts as if he is deaf, his mom says he has been like this from a young age. he is so miserable all the time we have nothing to talk about hardly ever when we do both see each other. if he is off of work he comes home lays on the couch and watches t.v. or sits on message boards on the computer. i make him food and clean the house and he helps me a little but then we dont have any love life. he gets really defensive when i say anything to him and he gets me to a point of getting me mad he knows what gets me really mad and uses this on me to get me to a breaking point. it seems as if he likes it when i get mad then backs down after i get really mad. i am not saying he enjoys me getting mad but he does it so much then backs down. we have 2 special needs children and he hardly does much with them he doesnt even help with therapy stuff only a small amount if nothing. he always has to be doing something or he goes nuts and he falls asleep sitting up all the time, and he has mild sleep apnea but not so bad they say. he will be wide awake once i go to bed and he plays his video games but yet when he is with me he lays on me and closes his eyes. i confront him and he either denies he is closing his eyes or will make an excuse. i feel as if i dont get much adult interaction and when i am with him he doesnt seem to have much in common or something is wrong. i am a stay at home mom too and i have to stay home cause of 2 special needs children. he wont tell the doctor about his problems he only went once and they ignored it and thought it was just the sleep apnea and now it is pulling teeth to get him to go back. he is so miserable all the time he blames others for his mistakes he cant ever find his keys his shoes whatever and walks around saying where is this where is that in a mad tone. he is very self centered too seems like all he cares about is his self what we watch on t.v. is what he likes and just everything has to be video games or t.v. i like t.v. but that is all we do. our families are no support cause of the special needs so we dont get out much and the way he is happy staying home anyway. when we go out to dinner he wants to come home he never wants to go in stores with me either. my kids get really upset when he plays with him too when it is rare but still they odnt cry as much with me. sorry to vent but some of this may be attention and some might just be relationship problems.

Re: my husband needs help.

Have you heard of Asperger's syndrome? Its a higher functioning form of Autism...

Does any of your special needs children have Autism?

I knew many people that were obsessed with video games, in their own world, lack of empathy, spacey, asocial ( no social skills/ lack of) seem to have ADD, yet many Asperger's people have very similar symptoms to ADD or have combined ADD and Asperger's syndrome...

Please see if he has symptoms of Asperger's too because from your post he seems to fit the description..

Re: my husband needs help.

Has he ever considered seeing a specialist regarding AS? IF not what's his reasoning?

There are people out there who can help him gain social skills, and perhaps any medications if it becomes necessary....
