Just prescribed provigil - ADD / ADHD Message Board

My psychiatrist says that provigil acts like a stimulant. Now I have read stories about people here saying that stimulants work right away for ADD and that the change is miraculous sometimes. I have felt this way now starting the provigil. My pdoc has suspected that I have ADD in addition to the bipolar. I am to take a TOVA test too...but not sure if I want to do that.

So, I guess what I am asking is, does this mean that I have ADD given my reaction to provigil?

Actually, no, it doesn't necessarily mean that.

Almost everyone (not everyone, but pretty darn close) feels better and concentrates better when first given a stimulant. It used to be thought that if a stimulant calmed you down and helped with concentration, it meant you had ADD. Now we know it just isn't that clear-cut.
