Unhappy Stressed & Concerned

I have just been informed yesterday that my son has been tested and tested and tested and all signs are pointing to ADD. I am very very confused.
At First I though he had a lot of energy, and was very aggressive. I had a blind eye to picking up on it. His kindergarten teacher, who I thought labelled him off the bat. She didn't come right out and say it. So I started taking offence to it, and all thenotes coming home about his aggressiveness. Things have to be done his way, I was considering Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I think the best route is to get another opinion.
I have been keeping it to myself today (I don't want to be the gossip of the office this week) and I really would like some onfo from parents who have been dealing with it. I am feeling very very confused and would like a bit of direction.

My son is 5 years old attending kindergarten, Mild Tourettes, which has jsut started within the past month. He has recently joined gymnastics and loves it and will be taking riding lessons (horses). I do not want to put on medication. Considering change of diet and keeping regular routine with him. AM I on the right track?
Advice would be appreciated.

testing testing and more testing?? Where did he have all these tests done and what tests were they? What does your copy of the tests results say? Unless your son was tested at a clinic that does testing for ADD you can bet I'd be wanting a second opinion and to have him tested at a clinic that does ADD/ADHD testing. I have one child that is positive via testing for ADD and one child that did not test positive for ADD even though her teacher thought she might have it so I know how important it is to have proper tests done to determine what it going on with certain children.

MY SON IS 9 AND AUSTIC AND VERY ACTIVE. HE HAS BEEN ON A YEAST FREE GLUTEN FREE DIRT NOE FOR 11/2 YEARS AND IT HAS HELPED A GREAT DEAL. THE TEACHERS AT SCHOOL CAN SEE A BIG DIFFERENCE, HE WILL SIT FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME AND WANT TO PARTISIPATE. HE HAS BETTER EYE CONTACT AND NOT NEAR AS AGRESSIVE. HE EATS NO PROCESSED FOOD FRESH OR FRESH FROZEN, DRINKS BOTTLED WATER AND DELUTED 100% JUICE ONLY, NO POP OR MILK.
LOOK INTO THE DIET IT WILL HELP.

your son sounds like mine at 5. He is now almost 11. What we found out a lack of social skills seemed to bring out his aggression/misbehavior in kindergarten....we still work on social skills stuff. Ask the school social worker or psych. to work with your son on this. They most likely will. We
also have had luck with a low carbohydrate diet. Talk w/ your pediatrician about your concerns....it may be he is just a bit "immature for kindergarten" right now.
Eventually we did go to meds, along with a great in home program to help us all deal with him better. Things are still tough, somedays I wish I could just give it all up, but being his mom I am the only and best advocate this child will ever have....keep strong, find out as much as you can about your son and Why he does the things he does (or try to)Praise him for anything under the sun he does good, or trys to do good. Criticism provokes the daylights out of kids w/ adhd, odd, etc. love him with all your might. Catherine
