long term side effects from dexamphetamines?
My 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with adhd when she was nine. She takes dex for her condition and I feel this keeps her under control or in control I should say as boy do you know when she has skipped them. It now looks like my nine year old son may also have it. He has just changed schools as his other school just found him as a disruption and felt they could no longer help him. He lacks consentration is a poor reader and writer, finds it hard to stay focused and at his new school his teacher says he is o.k. in the mornings but come lunch time and afterwards they can't get him to setle and he is a disrruption to the class that enjoys the attention he gets for his negative behaviour. he has resently been put on meds for migraines which are now under control but this behavior has been going on longer than he has had these meds.
My worry is the long term effects of these meds for adhd. If they are not controlled now they won't learn and their behavior gets worse, but what are the long term effects does anyone have any idea? Please help, I would love to hear from people who have taken these meds for many years and whether they have had adverse side effects from this. Thanks.
