a resurgence? - ADD / ADHD Message Board

i am seventeen and vaguely remember being diagnosed with add 10 or 11 years ago. i cannot remember how it was treated. my question is, when left untreated does it progress or reappear? today i am very disfunctional and have a bad memory and short attention span. scatterbrained is most appropriate i think. could any of this be related to a mild case of add that wasnt thot to require any lasting medication?

ADD does not disappear or go away. Many people are able to function and learn stratagies to deal with ADD throughout the years. If you are being troubled with problems again why not ask your parents to let you look at you test results and recommendations from your original testing. Once you have seen what your original problems were then you have several options. One option is to get some books dealing with ADD and try some of the suggestions in it. The other option is to seek professional help from either a pyschiatrist or psychologist who deals with ADD/ADHD. Medication is an option but must be prescribed by your doc. If you are unsure if your problems are truely ADD you can also ask to be retested to be sure what is causing your problems is ADD.
