Try taking sugar and artifical colors/sweetners away from your child for a few days.
My bet is that you will not ever consider medication again.
Doctors are too quick to prescribe medicene because they think that is the solution you are looking for.
Do some box reading, check out the ingredients of the stuff you have in your cabinets. Stop feeding your child SUGAR in the mornings/evenings and see what happens.
Try some unsweetened rasin bran, or Special K, or Total. I am sure your child will demand a cup full of sugar with their new breakfast, but refuse it, and send them on their way to school or if they are not school age, observe the child who is more calm, laid back, and less challenging.
If this works, there is a big chance your child has a problem digesting sugar, which is later years will result in diabetes.
Most doctors won't tell you this because their schooling does not teach them this, unless they graduated from college before 1982.
What do you have to lose? 3 bucks on a differnent box of "less fun" cereal with no surprize at the bottom of box, saving money on suckers and candy....but you have everything to gain. See a different side of your child, and try a new way of thinking.
