Post My son can't swallow fish-oil capsules

Is it okay to put a pin-***** in the end of the capsules and squirt the oil into a little juice for him to drink down? I don't know any other way to get the oil into him. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I thought of the same thing, but then I thought my son would gag on the taste. I searched and searched and finally found a smaller capsule. It's called FISOL, by Natures Way. They are smaller, about 1/2 the size of regular fish oil capsules. These are 500 mgs. and I have my 9 year son take 3 a day. I don't know if this is enough. The bottle was about $6.00 for 45 softgels. Hope this helps

Thanks, Connor. Actually, my son doesn't mind the taste at all. I'm already placing the oil (from the capsule) in grape juice. I put it into just enough juice that he can swallow it in one gulp. I'm just wondering if it will be as effective, being used in this manner.

Yes this is fine to ***** the capsule and put the medication in juice. You could also put it in applesauce or ice cream too. Another trick if you don't want to ***** the capsule is to let it sit for about 5-10 minutes in applesauce and it will be like jelly and very easy to swallow. Gel caps are designed to dissolve easily and the do get very soft and eventually the geletin capsule dissolves entirely if you put the whole thing is sauce or liquid.

Flaxseed oil is really good for oils too, the way I took it was, 1tbl. spread on a piece of wheat toast then peanut butter on top.
