does anyone know if insurances are covering strattera?
I am still using the samples my doc gave me, I have aetna insurance, and am wondering if they or any insurance is covering this in thier prescription plans.
We have Blue Cross and it covers the bulk of it. Each insurance plan is different. Aetna probably has a customer service number where you could inquire and find out the benefit for your specific plan.
I agree all insurance plans are different. We have an HMO and the neurologist prescribing the strattera for our son had to fill out a form and send it into the ins. company to get approval for the new med. It was not considered to be a problem since my son also has tics and the stimulants made them worse. Our HMO approved the strattera but at a higher co-payment than usual. So something to watch out for. Our usual co-payment is $20 but it was $35 for the strattera because it is so new it is not on their formulary yet. Hopefully this co-payment will go down in time.
I have Aetna and they charge $30. for copay. I tried to get a three month prescription so that possible the copay would stay at $30 but yet I'd get 90 pills as opposed to 30 pills. Didn't work...they will only pay for prescription of 30 days in length.
