ADD (mabey????) - ADD / ADHD Message Board

hello everyone sorry to bother you but i have been reading up about add and some of it sounds alot like me
i often make little mistakes in my school work and sometimes when i read over what ive written i can find whole sentences i dont even remember writing. :/
also i hardly ever get homework i usually forget it or else i keep putting it off and it never gets done unless its interesting home work, ive never read a whole novel in my life im not a bad reader im quite good but if i try to read a large book i get 20pages in and have forgotten or dont know who the main character is.

im very forgetful and can lose up to two pens a day at school just by misplacing them.

the only thing is i find it not that hard to listen to instructions or pay attention to most of my school work. am i just over reacting or what please help.

also im scared that if i got to see if i have Add and i dont people will think i was just trying to make excusses. :/ its making me quite depressed.

Forgetfullness does not mean ADD. ADD is more like when you are reading a book or working on a math problem if the a dog barked and distracted you even momentarily you would have no clue what you were reading or where you were with that math problem and quite literally would have to start all over again. Your small motor coordination is often poor making handwriting difficult for you making it easier to use a keyboard than to write things. You are often very disorganized as you lose your train of thought say when getting dressed in the morning. The only way to know for sure though if you have ADD or not is to ask your doc for a referral to a center or clinic that does ADD testing.
