Post Strattera and celexa = no sleep!

Anyone else on this combo? I haven't been able to sleep in days. My brain seems to turn on around 4 am and will not stop. I think that my doc is a complete quack and have an apt with a psycologist soon. One of the things is I feel these dose of Strattera is to low only 40mg and i am 6'5 210lbs. I would give anything to find something that makes me feel normal.

Probably the drugs are over-stimulating your brain (my understanding is that they are both stimulants). Lack of sleep causes ill mental and physical health; it is extremely important to get it naturally too, because sleeping pills such as benzodiazepines only provide a skewed version of sleep, more like anesthesia, without the proper amounts of stages 3 , 4 and REM, also are a bit addictive and can stop working.

Best to slowly (very!) taper off your drugs and wait for sleep pattern to return, but that's up to you. Hope you get some sleep soon, whatever you decide...

Strattera and Celexa 'interfere' with each other in terms of metabolism. Refer to the Strattera literature and tell your doctor to read about (non lethal) contradictions when combining an SSRI and atomoxatine. This may be the reason for you problems, however "the brain not shutting off" may just be AD/HD, that is a common symptom.

Have you tried a stimulant like Ritalin or Adderall ? If you need to be on an antidepressant for depression have you tried Wellbutrin ? It can help both AD/HD and depression. If you need to 'alter serotonin levels and norepinephrine levels for AD/HD, have you tried Effexor ? Those may be better choices for you. Ask your doctor about wellbutrin and a stimulant or effexor and strattera/stimulant.
