Do the male side effects go away? - ADD / ADHD Message Board

Hi, I'm 36 years old and just started Strattera. I immediately noticed numbness and tingling in my extremities once I stared the meds, though this seems to be subsiding. (The back of my head still feels like someone is tickling it, though.) What is not subsiding is the difficulty in urinating and the attendant urgency that goes with it.

I have had urinary tract infections before, and this feels just like it. However, I am skeptical that this is the case given that the symptoms appeared immediately after I started the meds. Has anyone else had these symptoms, and more importantly, do they subside with time?

I suggest that you go to the thread on this site that reads: Strattera - Others w. Adult Male Side Effects?

I have been having bad side effects on Strattera, along with a bunch of other guys who wrote on this particular thread.

I am "dosing-down" from Strattera, and already the side effects are going away. Not to say that it is not for everyone, but these are the worst side effects I have ever had on anything, and Lilly lied about the side effects.

The urinary symptoms should not be left to go. Get these checked out just in case it is not related to the medication. Letting a UTI go untreated can lead to urosepsis which means the infection has spread to your bloodstream. See the doc and get this checked out.

I'd bet $$$ that it's the Strattera. I'm a male your same age and I had the same side effects. My symptoms subsided once I stopped taking Strattera.

Just got back from my primary care physician. hyperev was right, it's the Strattera. The doc checked me out and said it's not an infection, though he's going to run one additional test to make sure and prescribed Pyridium, a urinary tract anesthetic, to make things more comfortable. I also have a call into my ADD doc to get advice on next steps.

hyperev - since you stopped taking Strattera, what are you trying now? Also, has anyone had their urinary tract symptoms subside while they are on Strattera, or is this a "permanent" side effect?
