Just wanted to share my experience with strattera
I have been taking strattera for about 4 months. Today is my first day off of it. I had horrible side effects, and it didn’t really do much for me anyways.
Every morning I wake up and about ½ hour after I am sick (this is before I take the med- 60 mg) I feel this weird sort of car sickness in my head, and stomach, and certain things make me nauseous. Like coffee- I cant even drink it in the morning anymore, cause it makes me feel sick. Then I take my medicine and hour after that I have a 5 minute bad nausea spell, and then I sneeze (I know- weird!) and about 2 hours later (bringing us to lunch) I start to feel ok again.
This was not fun, and I was sick of feeling crappy in the mornings and being limited to certain foods. I think it has to do with the things I ate in the morning when I was first starting to take the medicine (kinda like when you get a flu and what you end up getting sick on you don’t want to eat anymore). My dry mouth also started up again the last 2 weeks. But nothing else other that that. Since the strattera isn’t doing anything for me and I seem to have less concentration now, etc, there’s no need to be on it. So my doctor put me on concerta, once strattera gets out of my system. Right now I feel horrible, I can barely type! My stomach is also growing non-stop- even though i keep feeding it!

Anyone have an idea how long that takes and if I’m going to have bad side effects for a while from stopping the strattera?

Also I came across at Mass General Hospital they’re doing a lot of ADHD studies, so I called and they screened me for 20 minutes and told me that if I fit a trial they would call me. So they just did and told me I could do one, its basically brain scans and such- 2 times I go for some neuroimaging(?), and then 1 MRI.
They also said something about one year of follow up care ( cant rememeber exactally) That’s the part I liked since I don’t trust my doctor anyways- don’t think she knows a whole lot on the subject, I just have no idea where to look for a doctor…
Oh and I also get compensated for doing this. Which I don’t care about, I’m just happy to get to do this! Ive never been in clinical research before.
