Question on Straterra - ADD / ADHD Message Board

Does anyone know if straterra causes kids to take on different personality moods than they normally have? For example, my son is really somber and never laughs or smiles while he's on adderall. When he's off of adderall he's a really happy, jolly little guy. I'm wondering if straterra causes moodiness or just a personality change over all. Also has anyone had stomach problems or head aches with this medicine. Thanks for info provided!

My daughter is in a better mood and less irratable since she switched from Concerta to Strattera. She was very tired the first week, but now is ok. No headaches or stomachaches.

My seven year old son has been on Addrell XR for the past month and God only knows the positive effect it has had on my son's social skills. The teachers now love him and he is able to score better in his tests. My question is does Straterra seem to work on the same day you give it to the child or does it takes days to kick in?

In my daughter's case, it kicked in the same day. This was something I was worried about as well because I didn't want to risk her being unmanageable at school. She was fine, and less irritable, too.

My child has been on Straterra for three weeks and it definitely needs to build up in the system. This is not like a stimulant, so don't expect immediate results. Also, dosing is based on the weight of the child and needs to be moderated accordingly. We have been very pleased with the drug to date.
