Tips to remebering to take med.?

Hi, fellow ADDer's! I'm on Adderall- or am supposed to be- but maybe like some of you, I SUCK at remembering to take them! Again, maybe like some of you, I'm the WORST pill-taker in the world. This is not good because I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease too. Anyone have any tips or suggestions as to how I can remember to take them every single day??

Re: Tips to remebering to take med.?

Put them... Next to the toothbrush. On / next to toilet paper. Taped to side of shampoo bottle (might get wet? haha). On coffee filters (if you drink coffee)

ALSO

take a few of each script and put them in another bottle that you put in your "i carry this at all times" container (backpack for me, purse/glovebox for you?)

That is, put some extras somewhere that you can have as a backup in case you forget. I hate walking to class, getting halfway there and realizing i didn't take my meds but not having time to go back. Sticking a few in my backpack solved that real fast!

21 days in a row to build a habit... you'll be fine don't worry

(btw, the above ideas came from a ADHD specialist, the idea being to use your daily habits to help you remember to take your meds. Eventually, it'll just be habit!)

Re: Tips to remebering to take med.?

Hi. I work early in the morning, and take my first round of meds with my breakfast. Then carry a small pillbox thingy and wear a rubber band around my wrist until my second round of meds by lunchtime. It's funny I have one co-worker who worked a double shift with me once and noted that I was slacking/wandering. He looked at my rubber band and said-did you take your pills

Get a "pillmate" as they are called here in the UK, it's a small thin container with 7 compartments with the days on. Fill each day with the tablets you take and try setting alarms on your phone if you have to take them at regular intervals.

Thank you all for your replies.

This AM - Did I take my first round? I checked my "pill-mate" (a combination of 7 cubes for each day/week and my "mate," who refurbs cubes as needed.)

I DID! Wonderful.

ADHD, being what it is, "makes me" (kinda like the Devil) forget to check my pill-mate container. My wife quit her job of checking and reminding me out of sheer frustration and disgust with me. I figure it this way - some days are days off for me. At least, the pill mate, prevents accidental overdose. I really am not into accidentally on purpose.

Re: Tips to remebering to take med.?

Watch alarm set for 2:00 (it automatically goes off again at 2:05)pm, and then again at 2:45pm (between 2-3pm is when I can take the 2nd dose and it's the most effective).... if I don't take my adderall by 2:45, it becomes WAY less effective for the afternoon. I never go anywhere without my watch so it works! Also.... totally agree with the people who said carry extras in whatever you always have with you (mine's in the diaperbag!).
