Smile Adult A.D.D. how do you get diagnosed?

Okay,so I'm aware you must first have had symptoms as a child in order to be diagnosed. My question is,I'm in my thirties and cannot really remember exact details of my childhood, but without a doubt I think I had ADD.

I do remember struggling bad with grades in middle school and high school. And in high school I even dropped out, lol. I wouldn't say I ever had any real behavioral problems though.I was always quiet and shy and a daydreamer.

Now I'm forgetful, scatter brained, completely unorganized, and I can't adhere to a schedule of any sort.My sleeping schedule is the worst.I'm so envious of people who sleep and wake at the same time everyday.Same with eating,I never have regular meals.I either forget to eat,or I'm eating too much.
I get stressed out easily over little things.

I have been on random antidepressants over the years, and none of them have helped much. Was never really diagnosed with anything because I didn't have insurance and couldn't afford to see a doctor on a regular basis.
Now I FINALLY have some insurance, and I was wondering how do I go about
finding out what my problem is,lol.
I have an appointment tomorrow with a P doc,and I just wanted some opinions.Thanks

Re: Adult A.D.D. how do you get diagnosed?

A psychiatrist is a good place to start. It's OK if you can't recall every detail of childhood, it sounds like you remember enough!

There are questionnaires designed for adults. See how it goes. If this Pdoc tells you something absurd, like ADHD is only for males or only for children, then go to another one.
