Wellbutrin helps ADD?

Would anyone like to share how Wellbutrin has helped them alone or in combination with other med for ADD or ADHD?
Just curious Thanks

Re: Wellbutrin helps ADD?

I'd be curious to know, too. From what I've read it's not specifically specified as a treatment for ADHD, but it works for some apparently. This might be an option for me since I'm getting headaches from the stimulant medications.

Has he tried any stimulants? Has doc mentioned adding them?
Thanks for your reply.

Re: Wellbutrin helps ADD?

If it's not working then it would seem the meds need to be tweaked. ADD meds take a lot of time, experimentation with different meds and dosages, and patience to work out. Don't give up.

Re: Wellbutrin helps ADD?

I was on Wellbutrin early last spring for about 3 months, after being on Cymbalta for several months for depression. My doctor told me that it has a mild stimulant in it, and gave it to me despite my comment that I don't do well with stimulants (even caffiene). This was several months before my ADHD dx. The Wellbutrin gave me insomnia, and did as little for the depression as any of the other anti-depressants I've taken. Didn't make me feel better in any way at all. By the time I was dx'd with ADHD, I was on, I think Prozac; Pristiq now. The next step is to try me on psycho-stimulants, but only if my cardiologist agrees. I see the cardiologist on Wednesday and my psychiatrist next week. Oy vey.

Re: Wellbutrin helps ADD?

Nope, not at all. My theory is that my depression/anxiety issues are caused by the ADHD - present since childhood but undiagnosed until age 58. Even longer story.

Re: Wellbutrin helps ADD?

Not a lot of confidence in Wellbutrin after reading a couple of posts in this thread, but I know different things work for different people. I have a Wellbutrin prescription waiting for me at the pharmacy this morning so back I go to the experimentation lab again! Wish me luck.

My girlfriend's husband takes it. Not sure exactly what for. I know the family has their various struggles. He seems to be doing really well. Maybe it works for better for a targeted gender age group better?
like you said -different things work for different people-

Have a good day!
