First time poster. But been lurking awhile now. I been diagnosed with ADD and was prescribed time released adderall. I took it in the morning as directed. The first few hours I was sort of nervous about what to expect. But I was constantly yawning. And sort of sleepy feeling. This lasted for several hours. Then I past. But then in about the 4th hour after taking it. All of the sudden I has this surge of energy. Realy didnt feel like doing much. But I was talking my head off. It was a good feeling. But any thought would set me off on stories from years ago. Think i was driving everyone around me crazy.

Anyone else experienced this? I havent taken the Adderall again. Going to talk to my doc. about what happened. Any other first time experiences would be great too. Thanks

Yes, your experience is typical for a first time Adderall user. You can expect the energy surge (euphoria) to fade over three or four days, and what you should be left with is merely an increased ability to concentrate. If more intense effects continue, your dose is too high, and you should step it down.

It sounds to me like your "time release" Adderall released all at once. I am not a fan of time released medications, because I don't see how they can predict that the medications will break down at the same rate for everyone.

You might talk to your doctor about regular twice a day Adderall, instead of the XR.
