ok I've been taking these pills for years now and my habit has gotten from bad to worse. It all started so innocent, took them for my headaces and stomach problems, now I would be ashamed to say how many I take at one given time. It seems to help me to cope , gives me energy , easys my mind. I know what these pills are doing to my liver and kidneys, infact I have to go to the docs to have some more tests done(things are happening to me)and I am also mixing these with depression meds. My question: How to get off these pills(very hard) and what are some of the risks maybe that I don't know about, and could they be interfearing with my meds?? Thanks for any advice.

help me please...I am hookes on tylenol number 1's too....please tell me if you found help to quit...I get terrible headaches if I stop....I am so ashamed...I take at least 50 a day....please get back to me

Hi You Guys - Anyone with that big a habit needs medical assistance to detox. You need to get honest with yourself and your doctor. Withdrawal is no picnic even under the best circumstances. I don't know if hospitalization is warranted - I'm no doctor, but detox and rehab might not be a bad idea. I detoxed myself from methadone many years ago by very slowly reducing the dosage over a period of a couple of months before completely cutting it loose and still had to go through a short period of uncomfortability. Recently, I have a friend who was on percocet for a couple of months. She cut down and cut down and still had some pretty bad days in the end. I question the ethics of any doctor who would allow this to go on by writing prescriptions indescriminately.

Whatever you decide, please get off the merry-go-round! Life is too short.

I don't know anything about withdrawling from that sort of medicine, but I wanted to offer my support to both of you. Acetaminophen is really bad for your liver, you should be very careful. I used to take Excederin just about everynight when I was drinking to get the caffeine buzz and prevent hangovers. Then I had a routine blood test and my liver enzymes are elevated. I think it might be partly because of the tylenol in the excederin (but I'm sure the beer doesn't help

)
