Hello,

My name is Jason and I have been an alcoholic since my first drink at age 17 (I am now 26). At this point I am drinking a minimum of 10 beers a night, altough I used to drink much more. I first tried hydrocodone around 4 years ago and immediately I loved the rush it gives me. I can;t ever remember it sedating me, it was and is always a rush like a stimulant. Lately i have been taking 7-9 TEN mg. hydrocodones per day (for the pat 2 weeks i have not missed a single day) and I am not having the rush, I simply feel normal with them but not without.

My plan is to drink alcohol throught the opiate withdrawal to quell some pain and allow sleep. Anyway I am not certain why I feel compelled to post this lame jarbled selfish problem I have. Thanks for listening all.

Jason I think the strenth of an addiction varies from person to person. The only thing I can suggest is go cold turkey on both things and climb the walls for a few days. But the real fight is when you are tempted to use again during a time of stress for example. For that I would suggest meditation which is not easy to learn but will help you a lot.

Jason, I can relate to you. I started my drinking career at age 15, I am 48 now.
I have developed back trouble and was on every opiate they make. I went through withdrawls coming off Oxycontin, however I put myself in a treatment center.
Don't use alcohol to try and ease the W/D's, it will only make you feel worst. Trust me, I know!
If you are going to try this on your own it is going to be hell for about 7 days. If you can get your hands on some darvecets and some blood presure medicine they will help ease the W/D's. Drink a lot of gatoraid and get some imodium for the runs. You are going to have a hard time sleeping the first 3 days. Try to find some sleeping pills or over the counter sleep aid. Also you can take Nyquil to help ease the flu like symptoms. When your legs start to go crazy get in a hot bath. Or even a hot shower will help.
If you are a true addict like me, you need to get involved with NA meetings.
I want to stress again , do not use alcohol. You will regret it.
