Hey yall, I finally made it back from the beach, we had a super time!! I did just fine not taking any meds for Thursday and Friday, I was just dealing with severe back pain from my surgery but I figured it was just because I stoped taking my med so I just dealt with it as best as I could. All was fine untill Sat. afternoon, my family went to the beach and I had to stay on the couch with heat on my back all day cause I had gotten where I couldnt walk because my lower back was too painful, but I was fine not taking any pain med except for the back pain, no other problems. Anyway my wife kinda got mad that I was just laying there hurting and not taking my med, but I told her I did not bring any with me, that kinda made her fustrated with me, so she got me to call my doc to call me something in but he was out of the office so she took me to an urgent care, the bad thing is that I have a discagrahm on the 23rd scheduled because my orthopedic doc thinks I have another hurniated disc, but I was hoping I dont! Anyway I went there and they gave me some lortab 10s, but like I told yall before I do not take more than prescribed anymore so they really didnt help me too much at all I geuss cause I have been taking the oxys for soo long. So I took those for three days but my wife found an orthopedic specialist where we were and made me an apointment.So I went there on Friday and asked for them to do exrays to see what they thaught, I was honest with them and told them about my recent surgery and that I do go to a doc back home, Like they couldnt see my 2 ft back scar and all the screws and pins in my back. My wife and Dad said it would be a good idea to get a second opinion anyway since he is a orthopedic doctor also, so they exrayed my back and told me I probably did have another hurniated disc (what I didnt want to hear) and he gave me some percocet to take and flexareil and that really helped, but the bad thing is that means probably another surgery ( wich I will not have) but what concerns me now is that I dont want to get in trouble for going to two different doctors in one week and they gave me two diferent meds. even though I told the othopedic doctor I wanted a second opinion.I just dont want my insurance company to say anything or my pharmacy ( I always use the same pharmacy) I hope I havent done any damage??

Hi Cowboy...I dont know about the laws there but here you arent allowed to go to 2 diff docs and be RXED the SAME med. They rxed you 2 diff meds so of course you say the one wasnt working which is the truth anyway.
I am presently tapering off the percs myself got down from 8 a day to 6 before I saw my PM doc last monday and he was very happy but said I didnt have to do this but I want to. My goal is to get off them and after 2 yrs of narcs. because NSAIDS ruined my stomach maybe try a long acting nsaid and see what happens. I wish you the best...God bless. In my book, you are the strongest person(besides my Pop's) I ever come across

Don't feel bad if you need the oxy's, hell when it happened to my dad(surgery+bulged disc after 1st surgery) he was precscribed 2 lortab10/500 every 2 hrs.
That was nothin', he ended up in the hospital for a week before his operation. He was getting so much pain meds

:...shots(strong one's!)every 2 hrs, and 3-4 percs every 2.....HE STILL COULDN'T BEAR IT!! Remember he is such a strong person, but You do what you feel.

About the dr's, your pharmacy won't do anything(unless you have had different dr's, writing, or calling in, similiar med's) If it was just once, you should be o.k.
I also remember you had a script for oxy's(20), did you throw it away??Either way if what you got, the l-tabs and perc's work, you NEED them, evry post I've read, by you, in my opinion you are admired by this

Hey there cowboy!!!! Hey,we have different situations....YOU just had back surgury,I'd be swallowing em to! I don't do well with pain.....if you need it I think you should take it....DON'T TRY TO BE superman!!!!!!! You don't take more than perscribed and you were able to taper before so you should be fine....I know w/d's and becomng dependant upon anything is scary......you are one tough cookie!!!!!
