Post Day 4- Having a hard time

Hi, I'm new to the board but have been reading the posts for days. I'm on day 4 without any hydrocodone. I've been taking 4-6 lortabs/norcos for probably 2 years, every single day. I'm going through a divorce and have a 3 year old girl. I decided that she deserves better. I was feeling so crappy yesterday that I took today off to w/d at home. But now that I'm home alone, I'm so tempted to pop a pill to feel better. I have actual back problems, but the truth is, they don't bother me that much and I took the pills recreationally. I found that they really gave me energy. I feel like a slug without them, can't do much of anything. Making dinner last night kicked my butt. Can anyone offer support? Thanks.

Hey, if you are allready on day 4 with no pills I have good news Your withdrawals are just about over, the worst of withdrawals usually only last 5 or 6 days with the first 3 being the worst so you will be fine very soon!! good job!!I would go ahead and flush those pills so you will not be so tempted to take one, ya know what I mean

toughtime, Great job on 4 days clean!!! The guys are right..you are almost there...Just be strong, stronger than I was/am...it has usually been around day 4 when I have caved before..I am totally weak...so just keep your mind occupied, take a long HOT bath (I swear by the bath thing)...it will let your body relax while you are soaking...and sweating has to do something for get the toxins out of your body keep reading and posting here, there are so many people to draw strength from here!!! Good luck and my thoughts are with you!! Joan

Thanks for the replies. I feel like I need to clarify that I'm not getting divorced b/c of my pill use though. My ex was a pill head who got me into them, but I left him b/c he was cheating on me, etc. The thing with the divorce is that it has broken my heart, and I've used the pills to numb my emotional pain. I'm a normal-seeming functioning addict though, and sometimes I wonder if I'm taking a small enough dose that it isn't doing any harm.... but I know that's not true. I went to a new pain doc b/c my new hmo didn't want to prescribe me 120 a month. He flat out told me that I am too young to be on meds and I can't take them forever and they will kill me. I'm trying to get my mind off this crap. I've got Xanex and taking Metabolife and tons of vitamins for energy. When do you get your energy back though? To me, feeling normal is being on opiates, which is sad, and I don't know if I'm ready to deal w/life without them.

You are ready. I don't know when you get your energy back but the only way to "really" get it back is to be pill free...right?

I'm sorry about your divorce and your broken heart. A lot of us have been there and we know it hurts.

Yesterday was my 4th complete day and then I caved and regret it today. And guess what? I still don't have any energy. I still don't have a new job. In other words, it didn't really change anything for me. I wish I was writing to you that I have now completed 5 days. I am going to start over, I want to be clean.

Your 3 year old will help build your energy level up again. You will become healthier and healthier as times goes by. Hang in there, it's worth it.
