Hi--just got back and am damn tired--and ****ed off!!
Some of you wrote my request on bringing my addicted bro to dry out. It was a waste of time.
I was at my parents the night before and the phone rings--my mom answers and some guy starts threatening her if she doesn't pay a debt he owes. This happens daily from different people. I lost it---drove up to his place and had a long talk asking him if he knows what he's puting my parents through. He says he has no idea about who these thugs are--and he has been clean since July. He also said he knows he has screwed himself in this town and has to leave----meanwhile four or five losers are sitting on the floor--he pawned his couch---looking at me like I am crazy. If I had my gun I'd have wasted them all--no great loss.
He was all set to go with me--but wanted to leave these flunkies in his place--plus he was stone cold broke. He also cracked some other junkies skull and has court soon.
Anyways--I left him there--he will sink on his own I guess. I wanted to borrow some expensive tools from my old man---but went to his garage and they are all gone!!!
I've had it with him--so has everyone else----he'd better straighten out real soon.
Just talking to him it is so easy for him to lie to your face----drugs or no---he has no concience. I figure we will find him in a trunk or ditch real soon---as I said---no great loss. Sorry for the rant---tired and ****ed.

Hermit,
That is just an awful story. It is one thing to let yourself get in that situation, but once it starts affected your family like that, there is just no excuse. It is not fair to you or the rest of your family.
I hope things work out for you.

Unfortunately, I have been on both sides of this fence, and neither are very fun. All I can say is, you just have to let go. When your brother hits rock bottom..then and only then will he be able to get help. It may be later rather than sooner. You just can't MAKE a junkie stop. I know it stinks, and you deserve to be angry, but I'm sure you love your brother. I'll say a prayer for him & you. Try to find peace and don't let him ruin your good times.
