Question Help!!!!!! getting off Dilauded

I was on 10 mg of methadone 3 times a day for the last 8 months. After the side effects were so bad I almost died I called my Dr and told him I wanted off this stuff. He said I needed to come off slowly so he switched me to 4 mg of dilauded 3 times a day. After about 24 hours like this I ended up in the ER. I was in the hospital for a week. I was on 4 mg dilauded every 4 hours by IV and every 6 by mouth.
The Dr I saw in the hospital works with my Dr but he was not very nice infect calling me a liar that I was not having any withdrawals even though I was having terrible nausea and tremors and could hardly see and muscle spasms and pain and anxiety. He even sent me home with only enough dilauded xanax and nausea meds for 2 week. Even though I only get 3 prescriptions a month. I am now home and trying to get off dilauded. I am now today on 4 mg 4 times a day. But now experiencing pain in my back and joints. I have fibromyalgia and Marfan syndrome along with many others. I have heart rhythm problems and a few years ago had to have a dual chamber pacemaker in.
But after saying all of that what I want is to find people who have been or are going through what I am. I need HELP!!!!! I want to know the best way to get off these meds and live a productive life. I am a single disabled mom. Thank the Lord my kids are teens. Please let me hear from any and all who can help. God bless

i think you should consider suboxone if you cannot do it any other way.it will be the easiet way to do it i think and this is just me sayin it but what have you got to lose.if ya go the suboxone route you might not want to tell the dr about any chronic pain because some docs will not prescribe suboxone for chronic pain patients dont know why.this is just one way of doin what you want to do.spark

Hey, be very careful in this situation. Number one if you are taking pain meds for major pain, wich sounds like you are, most folks do not have that much trouble getting off them. Number two, with taking such strong pain meds how will you live with all the pain?? Maybe oxycontin could helpyou alot, not as strong as the dilaudid, but if you think you can handle the pain and want off the meds all together with no help for the pain with narcotics I would most definetly go through your doctor to help you, dont do it on your own unless that is the last option That is real real strong pain med and the withdrawals could really really be bad You sond as if you have a real legitamet reason to be put on this stuff so your doctor does have a responsibility to help you get off it You should really go and talk to your doctor about how you feel about all this

If you can shake it you can do it cold. Xanax??? ooook. That doctor sounds very unprofessional. Ill tell you this, I was taking 12mg of dilaudid IV almost every half hour on the hour and I shook it in 5-7 days. I was also abusing Fentynal Citrate and cocaine. I had to do it inpaitient though. But I lived and used minimal meds. Clonidine and Phenabarb. It's hard but it can be done. Hang in there, but please get a better doctor!
