Weaning off Buprenorphine - Addiction & Recovery Message Board

Hi All,
As I've said before, I am maintaining successfully on Subutex. It seems that the people on this board are unanimous in their praise of Bup, be it subutex or suboxone or it's other names. What I HAVEN"T read is any account of detoxing from this drug completely, Is it really an "easy" withdrawal??
How long does it take? I know I could research the subject on the web but it would be nice to hear some personal accounts. Thanks a lot.

I tried detoxing off the suboxone in june..id did a slow taper from 16mg-to 8mg and 4/2/1...0..
I really wasn't that sick..very tired/stomach ache but reasonable.Kinda like if you did a methadone detox after having a solid smack habit..and you are still kinda hurting?But the cravings/mental issues came back full force..i was not ready for it..so i relapsed..called the doc and started subox maitanence.
I do 8 mgs a day..and im fine.
Its really not so harsh...just gotta have the mental strength..i didn't so im just gonna hang for a while w/ this treatment..till i feel im ready.After 8 yrs. of doing H..w/ a couple yrs. off..i really messed up those pathways..
The bupe hangs on the receptors for a while..so it really is do-able...its like a built in taper..

Thanks for the input. I'm maintaining fine just like you......but sometimes think about going off them.
I still would like a handful of Vikes just to get a "lift" but the awful withdrawal symptoms are gone. What did you mean by the cravings, mental issues??? Kinda scares me.
